Human factors training focuses on the people performing maintenance rather than the aircraft itself. TRAINING OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of Human Factors and Maintenance Error Reduction training is to create a maintenance culture where safety, communication, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement are embedded into everyday operations. The goal is not merely to prevent mistakes but to build systems and habits that make mistakes less likely to occur and easier to detect before they affect aircraft safety.
A note from Michael:
No matter how new you are to the industry or whether
you're a veteran.... YOU as an A&P have the
last word about whether an aircraft departs a station. No
one will fault you for a delay. The FAA is your friend
when in doubt. Your co-workers are there to consult with.
I would always tell my fellow technicians "I'd rather have
it right than right away." Remember this always. NO
ONE will chastise you if you raise a concern.
An A&P has every right to take as much time as he or she deems necessary to assure, ensure and are damned sure the safety of the aircraft, crew and passengers. ANY member of a ground crew whether it be fueling, food service, interior crew, baggage handling, mechanic, pilot, avionics, anyone and everyone around or near the aircraft can bring to attention anything they might thing is a concern with any particular aircraft. THIS IS PARAMOUNT! To put it bluntly and I emphasize this without shame nor hesitation but don't take shit from anyone. A pilot can't just pull over at 30,000 feet! If you are unsure – err on the side of safety. You are the last line of defense and no one will fault you.
